Toad Rock Tie

I live in an area of British Columbia known as the West Kootenays. My humble tribute to the area I call home is to name some of my designs after local villages or locations. In the mid to late 80's, several times a year my husband and I would take our young family to our local hot springs at Ainsworth Hot Springs. It is about a 90-minute drive along a sparsely populated road, after "the ferry turn off" we would start to look for the ties. As Toad Rock, a large boulder along side of the highway, appeared so would the ties. High up on each telephone pole for several kilometres the Windsor knotted ties would sit surrounded by a forest of spruce and cedar trees. As time wore on so did the ties, but they remained throughout our children's childhood. The telephone poles were moved to the other side of the road several years ago, and the Toad Rock Ties became a Rural Legend. Enjoy knitting the tie and if, as in our family, no one really wears them any more, well……..

You will need 75/100grms of self-patterning sock yarn. Tie pictured in Opal Cotton. My current favourite is Hand Maiden's Sea Silk.
