The Kootenay Jayne
Once upon a time there was a TV series called Firefly. In one episode, Jayne Cobb, a big tough guy, is sent a knitted hat by his mother, and he wears it for the rest of the episode. Jayne's earflap hat was several shades of bright orange with a pom-pom on the top.
"Man walks down the street in a hat like that, you know he's not afraid of anything."
Wash, from the episode called The Message.
I hope you enjoy my tribute to Firefly.
This earflap hat is knit in the round from the topdown. The flaps are knit from stitches left on the needles when casting off for the band. The earflaps end in an I-cord knit for 28/30cm. The ends can be left plain or add bells, beads or trinkets.
